Begin the day in Inverness with a thrilling airboat tour through the vast unspoiled wilderness of the Withlacoochee River wetlands. See Florida’s exotic wildlife, including alligators, native birds and turtles up close in their unspoiled natural habitat.
Enjoy lunch at Stumpknockers, the casual, quaint Southern style restaurant on the square in Historic Downtown Inverness. Lunch choices are as follows: grilled chicken sandwich with French fries and cole slaw; fried catfish sandwich with French fries and cole slaw; or chef salad with ham and turkey slices or grilled, blackened or fried chicken strips. Plus non-alcoholic beverage and fruit cobbler for dessert. Please make lunch selection at time of reservation.
Then step into the glorious past of West Central Florida at the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum. Inside the hallowed walls you'll find two permanent galleries: Footsteps in Time and A Long Way Home, both displaying artifacts devoted to Citrus County’s pre-history and pioneer days. Plus, the museum honors more recent developments, such as the impact of the citrus and film industries on Central Florida. The Courthouse’s first Hollywood claim to fame came in 1961, when Elvis Presley traveled to Citrus County to film his ninth movie, Follow That Dream. The climactic courtroom scene was filmed entirely in the Courtroom and included many townspeople as extras.
