With legends of treasures and the color of gold everywhere - in the sand, sun, and marsh grasses, the coastline and barrier islands of Southern Georgia known as “The Golden Isles” are a sight to be seen and enjoyed.
Day One: Travel from Orlando to St. Simons Island. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch on your own at the St. Simons Pier Village, site of the St. Simons Lighthouse and Keeper’s Cottage. Then embark on a tour and learn about the island’s fascinating history and view the remains of Ft. Frederica National Monument and the historic Christ Church. Then travel to Jekyll Island and check into the Hampton Inn Jekyll Island and enjoy welcome refreshments before departing for a fantastic dinner, overlooking the ocean.
Day Two: After breakfast at the hotel, view Jekyll Island via tram; explore the Historic District’s unique collection of architectural gems, reflecting a revival of European styles. Tour the interiors of one or two cottages, as well as Faith Chapel. While in the Historic District, enjoy lunch on your own, then tour the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. In the afternoon, visit Hofwyl Plantation and take a driving tour of Darien, Georgia’s second oldest town. Enjoy dinner in Darien, overlooking the Altamaha River.
Day Three: After breakfast at the hotel, depart for St. Mary’s for a tour and visit the Sub Museum and Orange Hall. Enjoy lunch on your own before departing for Orlando.
