Take a historic holiday tour of the Vinoy Park Hotel, now known as the Vinoy Renaissance Resort and Golf Club. Built in 1925 , this historic Mediterranean Revival styled hotel overlooks the peaceful water of the Vinoy Basin. The resort was a popular destination for celebrities of the time, like Babe Ruth, Herbert Hoover and James Stewart. In the early 1990s, the hotel experienced a two-year $93-million restoration and was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
Following the tour, enjoy a three-course lunch at the Marchand’s Bar & Grill. Please make lunch selections at time of reservation. Start with chicken soup with chive dumplings and house bacon; or red & yellow beets, frisee, blue cheese, house bacon and wildflower honey dressing. Then for lunch, chicken with sage pesto, chestnut-pumpkin spaetzel, cipollini and chicken cracklings; or maple glazed salmon with buttercup squash risotto and butter braised pearl onion; or taglietelle pasta with wild mushrooms, peas, sage and pecorino romano. And, for dessert, apple spice cake with cream cheese icing; or Nutella-milk chocolate cake with roasted banana ice cream.
Then see the world-renowned artist Dale Chihuly’s Collection (of glasswork) which includes Chihuly’s spectacular large-scale installations such as Ruby Red Icicle Chandelier created specifically for the Collection along with several popular series works including Macchia, Ikebana, Niijima Floats, Persians and Tumbleweeds which have thrilled audiences around the globe. Each space has been designed individually to complement each installation producing unique visual experiences.
